STAAR test data is only one indicator of student learning. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that reading and math skills, as measured by STAAR results, are among the most important. It is incumbent on District Leadership to understand why the majority of Leander ISD elementary schools underperform their peers in these two critical areas.

The Board rushed to put a bond on the May ballot without the necessary community input. As a result, Texas Parents United recommends a no vote on Proposition A, the

Analysis of PEN America's own data shows fewer than 2% of Texas school districts removed even one title from their libraries.

Instead of implying Texas has a book ban problem, it’s more accurate to say Texas schools have a harmful book problem, as the overwhelming majority of Texas school districts still make even the most extremely inappropriate books available to minor students.

LISD May '23 Bond Press Release

Hopeful the LISD Board of Trustees would put together a reasonable bond package that included only what is needed, parents are once again disappointed. Several projects as well as aspects of the process gave pause to a committee of Texas Parents United.
